Our Halloween

I haven't been updating my blog for a while and have so many things to share with you.

Here are some pictures from our recent Halloween Party.

For our boys it's the most favorite holiday so far, so I'm trying to make it fun for them. This year I found a nice skeleton costume for Mitya, which was two sizes bigger, but I managed to make it to fit him.

Daniel couldn't decide which costume to choose until the last day, when we came up with the idea of making him a Mummy, so I bought a long elastic bandage to wrap him, but certainly it was not enough, cause when the other kids came, all of his bandages started to fall apart and the costume was destroyed. Luckily, we had Shriek mask and the black cloak, so he put them on. But for our photoshoot he chose to be the  Jack O' Lantern and Harry Potter. He has some resemblance with Harry, don't you think?

Some of the treats I've prepared for the kids - the Witches' fingers, chocolate bats and cats, spider cupcakes and jelly worms.
You can find the recipes for these and many other fabulous spooky treats on my Pinterest Board.

The real fun has begun with the twilight when the ghosts and disgusting creatures of all kinds started to come for some treats. But my camera couldn't capture them all. Well, just some of them...

My Boys

It was a nice evening in late October, warm and quiet weekend day. We decided to spend it on the beach. Personally for me September and October are the best months to enjoy the evening sea walks. The sea still keeps the Summer warmth and is generously sharing it, and  there are almost no people around, boys have enough place to run, and I am just happy to be there with them ...

And while the kids were having fun running around, I got to make some pictures of the Big Boy.

One Lazy Afternoon

That day I took him from school right after the lunch. He is in a preschool from 8 A.M. till 4.30 P.M., so by the end of the school year he's quite exhausted and often asks me for a day-off. It means so much to him when he can play alone quietly, and just "be at home". So that afternoon he had a good nap and then we had fun playing "breakfast in bed". The light in our bedroom is so beautiful in the afternoon, so I grabbed my camera and snapped away.

Easter Bread Recipe

In case you'll want to make them next Easter, cause I'm sooo far behind )) Here is a wonderful recipe for the Ukrainian Easter Bread, they even advice to use coffee cans for pans, as our moms used to do 20 years before. I'm not sure whether you can find those cans now, I use usual cans, they work great!

Our Easter

Our Easter is a month late than the Western one, and it's a little strange that the most part of the world had already had one. I must say that we are not religious and Easter is just a beautiful Spring holiday for us, and a way to keep up the nice tradition. We usually dye eggs and I bake Easter cakes a few days before, and we have a nice time together on Sunday.

At the moment we are in a beautiful mountain village Apriltsi, having our Easter vacation. I took these photos the day before we left, so boys could still have fun dying the eggs.  Nothing fancy, just usual dye.

Aren't the eggs nice?

Our Easter Breads.  The small ones are for kids, my grandmother used to make little ones for children, so I keep up the tradition. They are all still safe and sound, but they'll be gone till the end of this day!

Now off  for the walk and a piknik! Have a wonderful Sunday!

P.S. I thought I should share the recipe of the Easter Breads, I made them using one old Ukrainian recipe. No time for this now, though. In the next post.

Macro Spring

I'm a happy owner of a macro lens  - Nikkor 105 mm f/2.8G IF-E! I've been saving for it for about a year and finally could afford it. What can I say about it? It's incredible when you can focus at an object so close, but it's really hard not to shake the camera. All of my handheld shots are blurred. The lens itself is big and heavy (it weighs 752 g!), even my tripod hardly can hold the camera with the macro lens still. But when I get the focus, I'm really happy with the result! Here are some of my recent shots (the first and the last pictures are made with the 50 mm lens).
